Almost wrecked.....

Last night as I was coming back home from the movies, I was sitting at the light on an intersection...it was still pretty wet out from all the rain we got this past week. As usual, I had my ASC turned on. When the lights turned green, I started off up until 4-4500rpm's in 1st, as I quickly shifted into second, I was already at around 35mph...that's when my rear tires broke loose and I started fish-tailing...I didn't panic, but that's when I lost control of my car and spun all over the lanes, with two cars behind me watching the scene...the thoughts going through my mind were that I was either going to hit the high-curb or one of the cars were going to hit me....my heart started racing...I tried regaining control of my car....just at the last instant when I was going sideways right into the curb.....my car stopped on the dot a few inches away from it. My heart was racing with relief as this could have been much much worse.

ok an easy way to get your car back from fish tailing. GET OFF EVERY THING. and ride it out with very small wheel movements.

First of all that wouldn't have happened if the ASC were on, but I think what you meant was that the light was on. And even if you get off the gas the car can still quickly regain traction and whip the car back around in the opposite direction. You should have immediately counter steered and then slowly eased of the gas as the car started to straighten out. Find an empty parking lot when it is wet outside and practice maneuvers like this so that you can keep control of the car no matter what happens. In fact I was just doing that tonight, its good fun.

Yea thanks for the advice everyone....I can control my car well, but I hardly ever drive it in the rain. I can admit most of what happened last night was my fault...I'm just thankful nothing happened.
