The Directions

Alright, I am going to put out some directions for everybody to see so everybody knows the route we are taking before Saturday. For those unfamiliar with traveling NE of MD on I-95 and the NJ Turnpike, I will tell you now that it will be like traveling on the DC Beltway during the early part of afternoon rush hour for most, if not all of the way in that the road is heavily traveled.

But here are the directions from the College Park Meet:

1) Get onto the Outer Loop of the DC Beltway heading towards Silver Spring. Make sure you are in one of the right 3 lanes.

2) At the I-95/495 split, which is the next exit, take I-95 heading North towards Baltimore.

3) You will travel on I-95 for around 30-35 miles or so before you reach the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore City. Unless they are working on one of the tubes, there are two tubes that you can use (2 left lanes are the left tube, 2 right lanes are the right tube). Both tubes take you to the same place, which is the toll plaza at the other end of the Tunnel. Pay the $2.00 and proceed.

4) From the Fort McHenry Tunnel to the Delaware line is around 65-70 miles. You will cross the Susquehanna River Bridge at Havre De Grace. After you cross the bridge you will enter the toll plaza. Pay $4.00 to proceed.

5) You will cross into Delaware at Newark, DE. Once you pass over Rt. 279 you will be coming up on the DE State Line and the toll plaza to enter Delaware. Pay $2.00 to proceed.

6) Once you are on the Delaware Turnpike, you will enter NJ in 30 mins providing there is no traffic backups. Keep an eye out for I-295 and signs for the NJ Turnpike. Once you approach the SW side of Wilmington, you will come upon the I-95/I-295/I-495 Split. Keep right and make sure you follow the signs for I-295 heading towards the Delaware Memorial Bridge, New Jersey, and New York.

7) Shortly after the split you will cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge into New Jersey.

8) After you cross the Bridge, you will come across the NJ Turnpike/I-295/US 40 Split. You want to stay on the NJ Turnpike heading north towards New York. YOU DO NOT WANT US 40 EAST TOWARDS ATLANTIC CITY. Reason for this is that US 40 is NOT an expressway, so you will pass thru every NJ Town and traffic light between Wilmington and Atlantic City, which will take MUCH longer than using the AC Expressway.

9) Travel on the New Jersey Turnpike until you reach Exit 3, NJ 168 (you will be close to Camden by the time you reach this exit). Get off at Exit 3 and pay the toll on the off-ramp to exit the Turnpike. After the toll, stay left when the off-ramp splits so that you will pass across the NJ Turnpike heading in South on NJ 168.

10) Take NJ 168 until you reach NJ Highway 42.

11) Take NJ Highway 42 South towards Atlantic City.

12) NJ Highway 42 turns into the Atlantic City Expressway

13) Take the AC Expressway towards Atlantic City, paying the tolls when you come across the toll plazas. When you cross over the Garden State Parkway, you are close to Atlantic City.

14) When you cross the bridge into Atlantic City, there will be large signs labeling the parking garages for Caesar's Palace and Trump's Casino. The Atlantic City Convention is north (to your left as you cross the bridge) of the Atlantic City Expressway.

I encourage everybody to look at a map to better familiarize yourself with these directions and where you are going.

If anybody wants some cheap gas, I was at the Costco up Rt. 1 a few miles north of Ikea, and 87 is going for 1.95, and 93 is going for 2.05.

Actually there is a place up by I-95 on the NE side of Baltimore where that may still be a reality. It doesn't require a membership either to get the price. The spot I am talking about is the intersection of US 40 and Rt. 43 (just off I-95 after the I-695/95 intersection on the NE side of Baltimore). Baltimore and Harford Counties have CHEAP gas prices typically.
