Poor old E21

Hey guys,

It might be time to depart my loved 83' 323i E21.
After a month waiting for a dodgy wrecker to put in a supposed M20B25
it all turned sour. It wasn't a B25. BullS pouring out this guys mouth the whole
time. Finally after giving up on the idea of puttin that engine in
I decided to try get my B23 reconditioned n repaired, Only to find out more wrong with it. If i had a very phat wallet, i would've been able to complete a full
restoration. No doubt in mind the potential of the car. Such a waste. Will most likely by another bmw!
Disappointing and hard decision to let this one go

whats wrong with your 2.3L motor? ive got some spare bits here i might be able to help out with.

hey, the timing belt snapped so engine is gone
mechanic had a look at the rest of the car n said that it will cost over 6K maybe
to fix other problems he pick up. i just dont have the time n money.
trying to find a car atm.
one thing i really don't want to let go is my seats lol
spent over 2gran n i know i wont get much money for the whole car
i havent decided what to do but i gotta decide asap

a replacement head shouldnt set you back more than $400 or so if you bent valves, etc. Did you damage any of the pistons too?

mechanic told me a quote for worst case senario but
my shocks are done, steering rack n radiator n cooling isn't good
overall he said its not worth it n get a good E30
its pretty disappointing had lots of fun with the car,
seriously thanks for your help though much appreciated.
hard to keep the E21

no way.

I net the valves in bathurst one year, I jacked the engine up half out of the bay to get the sump off etc and did the whole lot on the side of the road.

Even better, go get yourself a 2nd hand head. or even whole engines arent that dear.

once thats done, take the rest step by step. things will fail. but radiators and the rest arent dear. but I understand when the wallet biting gets tiring :P

Looks like I'm bringing this back from the dead!

That is really disappointing as I'm about to go down the same path. Any chance you could tell me where NOT to go to get messed around?

You might have a couple good pointers for me if you're still about.
