Guess the part?

Any non-mechanics wanna guess where this car part is supposed to go, and perhaps what it's "supposed" to look like?

DING DING DING
We have a winner!

The strut and strut bearing all ripped out with a mighty crunch while I was leaving a stoplight a mile from home, where I slowly limped. It couda been a different story if it all let loose at speed, or even worse, high-speed cornering!

So yeah, it's been cut out, new one welded in place, new reinforcement plates installed and one new OEM shock bushing installed... sorta temporary fix while I order new aftermarket shock bushings. I also took out the camber plates in front and put back the oem shock "bearings" while we were in there. And it only makes sense to replace the bent tie rod and rear control arm! Then there's all those swaybar endlinks that are toast! And I had been pissed off over all the little rattles that I had been hearing comeing from everywhere! I'm not racing this season, so I'll take the smoother/quieter ride in liu of extra handling.

Looks like a red X to me, so I guess it's an xbrace you painted red?

Sorry to hear that it ripped out on you, but at least it wasn't worse. Can you imagine that letting go on the autocross course?

If you click the "x" and select "show picture", it SHOULD show up... Let me know if it doesn't... still working with permissions on my new website.

Even worse than an auto-x event would be doing like 85+ on an exit ramp!!! (not that I would EVER do that!)

Actually, with Firefox, there's no red x at all...just nothing.

I know that you would never take an exit ramp that quickly; that's why I didn't even mention it.

Do they let you drive in NH again yet?

Ah, the red X (blank space) has been replaced by the correct picture. Wow, that's even uglier than Philsans.

ouch max! which shock mounts did you have in your car? I did upgrade mine when I did my coilovers. I got the E46 mounts for a convertable (supposedly thicker/wider mounts) I have not inspected them in quite some time now but then again I haven't driven my car in quite some time now either

btw- when can I get my helmet back?sleeping:

and how did your helmet come out? post picks.
