| Well, I just had an exciting afternoon. Mindy (my fiancee) calls me in hysterics saying that she's been pulled over on Rt 3 by a trooper, who's having her car towed and wants to leave her by the side of the highway. So I screw outta hyannis and pick her up on the side of the highway near exit 3. The trooper wouldn't let her into the car and only stayed when she started crying. Prick. She got a ticket for speeding (estimated, clocked) a ticket for expired registration (why the car was towed) and a ticket for not pulling over to the right. So we go to the RMV, to get new tags so we can get the car out of the tow yard only to find that Mindy has 3 Fast Lane fines and an excise tax bill outstanding. mind you, NONE of the notices made it down to her here on the Cape, even tho she put in a change of address form. So we pay the Fast Lane fines, $90 EACH in CASH cause the RMV doesn't take anything else. Call the tow yard and convince them to tow the car over to our house ($205 TOTAL between the initial tow and this one) and now Mindy has to go to the Boston City Hall monday to pay the excise tax, then back to the RMV to get the sticker for the car. Meanwhile she missed work today and will have to miss it till tuesday. Massachusetts SUCKS. I can't wait to leave this shit hole.

| well first of all, everytime i have ever paid the rmv was with a check, and i know they take credit cards online and in reading, malden, lowell, and lawrence so the cash thing is completely wrong that the cape won't take it, sorry about your luck. damn, the fines make sense tho, thats the only way they can enforce it. either that or when you have to renew your license. also wondering how the fast lane fines were $90 as any i have ever gotten were only $50, so thats wierd, ohh unless they tacked on late fees. in case she needs to get to work enterprise rents a car for only $9.95 per day as i have rented one quiote a few times. so for a lousy $40 she can have a car for the next 4 days. give her the money and tell her not to bitch if she's complaining. as far as the cop goes, man that sux and im sure she was pissing on ur leg about that... |

| Definetly talk to the troopers supervisor!!! And make sure the tow company didn't charge you for storage!!! They are not allowed to charge unless the car has been impounded for at least 24hrs.

| Nah, they didn't charge us for storage. I'm just relieved that we have her car sitting in the driveway now. The Cape RMV used to take credit cards but doesn't anymore. they do take checks, but neither of us had our checkbooks, so it had to be cash. The Fast Lane tix are $50, but there's a $40 late fee charge. Since we NEVER got any of the notices, we didn't even know about the tix in the first place! Then the RMV didn't send the reminder for the sticker because of the fines. The only way we found out about the fines was going to the RMV, so how's that for a f'ed up piece of logic? If the RMV had sent the damn reminder we would've found out and taken care of this a long time ago... Bastards.

| Guess the state is really hurting for money. Do cops ever wonder WHY people think they are such cocksuckers, or do they not care. I think the latter.... Funny how crap like this always happens when you are sick. Josh, sorry to hear it, hope you are feeling better.

| That cop was a prick!! He didn't need to keep her there like that! I would file a compaint! I would fight the speeding and failure to pull over to the right. If he didn't get you on radar you have a chance at the speeding infraction and the failure to pull to the right is just the trooper being a prick! How fast did he say she was going? As for the expired registration. The registry looks at it as your responsibility to make sure your registraion and license is up to date. They do send you reminders, but if you don't get them it's still on you. If you have it all taken care of, they will drop it when you fight the ticket. They usually do. I've had the same thing happen to me. I just learned to be aware of when these things expire because if the registry screws up it's still YOUR ass. I hope everything turns out ok. ![]()
