| Anything that is racing-related wouldn't be good for any car. If I found a good deal on a car that was tracked or AutoXed, I would go for it. But if there is a car that is about the same price and same mileage, I would rather get that. Racing a car puts more stress on the engine, thus a shorter life (not much shorter unless done frequently). Last edited by Suneal : 06-05-2003 at 05:47 AM. |

| I wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as the engine was broken in properly and as long as the previous owner didn't redline every gear every time he went somewhere without letting the car warm up, you will be okay. The BMW inline 6 is practically bulletproof. I have 95k on my 95M3 and it feels stronger than my dad's Jag or my brother's VR6 which both have less than half the miles.

Yea Suneal youre basically talking out of your ass. Autox'ing wont hurt a car. Its no different then if you redlined the car coming out of an offramp. THE CARS WERE BUILT TO DO THIS CRAP PEOPLE, STOP BEING SO DUMB!!! |

| I read in "Roundel" somewhere that "the best BMWs are the ones that are driven often and driven hard." I don't know how true that is, but it was in reference to a Z3 that was getting very low miles per year.

| My point is that it isn't GOOD for the car, but it isn't BAD for it also. Although, the guys on BF.C stated the fact that if it was tracked, it was most likely owned by an enthusiast which would of course maintain their car better than the average Joe, so maybe that part of my original post stating that I would rather have an un-tracked car versus and tracked one is null. |

Anyways, so long as the vehicle has been maintained I wouldn't worry about it too much. You'll want to see records of regular fluid changes, filters, and hopefully some suspension parts. Autoxing will take it tole on bushings and shock absorbers. |
