BMW breaks fastest ever lap in F1!!!!!!

Well I've just watched the qualifying for the Monza GP.
BMW have got a new engine that it reving to over 19 000 rpm
Pushing 900 bhp from a N/A 3 L pretty amazing stuff.

Montoya has also just done that fastest every lap in an F1 car at an average speed of 161.449 mph or 259.827 kmh with this engine.
Well done JPM and BMW.

These cars are also pulling about 5G's under braking!!!!!
That is just unbelieveable.
Should be a good race

props to Motorsport! They've had their shit together since the beginning. now if williams could build a chassis that exploited the talents of the motor, then we'd be winning championships...

That's not bad, however these are qualifying engines, and last only a few laps. After that, they're junk. Race engines are a whole 'nother game. Hope BMW motor doesn't grenade...

But then again, it's Monza, and Ferrari must win. Cannot imagine the Germans taking Monza away from Ferrari. That would not be "proper", huh?

u mean like last year, when schuey was too "distraught" to win?

Maybe I wrong - haven't really paid much attention to F1, since it's quite boring nowdays, but it seems to me that the Bimmer engines tend to blow up, rather than the chassis collapsing.

Like I said, the race engines, and qualification ones are two entirely different things. There is some rumours of banning the qualification motors (because not every F1 team can afford them, so the thinking is that's unfair to them), but that's for another day.

These aren't a true qualifying engine, it's seems like they just upped the revs and the spec on the current engine and it will soon be in the race cars too.
It the first time they have run them at this spec at a race weekend.

Still it's very impressive for a 4 stroke engine to rev that high.

juan montoya won last year at monza. it was only a few days after the 11th, and schuey was too f'ed up over the attacks in NY.

Really?

So, will they run this same motor during the race or will they chuck it? Maybe FIA did do something about the qualification motors...

Or is this a "somewhere in-between motor; not quite all out qualification, but not quite a racer either"?

Why would BMW be doing that? Are others doing too?

I dunno about him but if I was him I wouldn't give a shit. Ferrari is dominating and has been for some time and it is unlikely for that to change soon. Congrats to BMW thats what hard work is about :-) Williams as well.
