McLaren owners can plug their car into a phone line and it will connect to the McLaren headquarters in England. Then the people at McLaren can update the cars software and run diagnositics on the car from a computer in England. That way if they have to fly someone out to work on the car they know exactly what the problem is and what tools and stuff will be needed. Oh and the big carbon fiber cylinders are intakes that get air from the scoop on top of the car.

Oh, and the first McLaren ever wrecked was wrecked even before they were released by a BMW mechanic who was supposed to be working on it.....I'd say he probably doesn't have that job anymore. Check out these pictures though, ouch:

It is a great car but what is the point considering that you can't drive it anywhere and park it. You can't take it on road trips because where woule you park it overnight and feel safe. Dare I bring up the service issue. I would much rather have my M3 with all of the things you could possible do to it for probably under 100,000$. They are kind of pointless.

If you guys like McLarens then get the book. I have it and it is amazing! I wish I could scan the pictures in it but the book it too big for my scanner. The photography in the book is amazing! In the book they talk about Rowan Atkison aka Mr. Bean and when he brought his car in for service. They plugged it into the computer and the last 12 out of 14 days the car had seen speeds of over 200MPH!

I actually saw a McLaren F1 store in London, check out my pics below:

http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...617&uid=535109

too bad the door was locked and it's by appointment only. I spoke with the BMW dealer next door and they said McLaren will only let you test drive the car when you BUY the car. If you end up not liking it (impossible) they will give you a refund.
