| Not what you drive, but how you drive it... Went to the Glen last week, and took some footage. The car in front is my buddy in his Mazda Protege (stock power, street tires, only shock + springs). Me and another buddy following w/the camera in a '94 Miata. YouTube - Mazda Protege passing a Porsche 944 at Watkins Glen Look for the pass on the 944 at 2:25

| wait, what do you mean you don't need to brake until you're in the busstop? I mean, it's at the end of the back straight. So isn't it threshold brake until turn in, and then back on the gas as soon as you're in the stop (and now headed left to exit)?

| It depends. Especially in a race/ qualify session. It's friggin SCARY to do but if you r trying to make a pass, hold off/ block a pass or just trying to get that last tenth you can lift at the 2 mark, come in on the right (all the way) bang right wheels off curb, then catch your rear left wheel on the curb in the bus stop to launch the back of the car. You have to be braking just before the second curbs. Plus it will scare the poop out of the guy behind you and he will think twice before attempting a pass. I really don't recomend this in a school but try it slowly and build up to it more and more to try something new. DON'T HURT YOUR CAR!! I'm entering the bus stop at 145ish mph, but the gearing was already topped at 153 before the first (800 ft mark I think) brake marker. Topping 160 next year! |

| Wow... that is really interesting. I'm probably hitting 130 at best, but I haven't really tried to carry speed properly through turn 1, 2 and into the esses. I'm still trying to get comfortable with slowing from 125-130 to 70ish. Not something I get to practice on the street. My friend (the one driving the Protege in the vid) hits about 145 in his 3000GT VR-4 (gutted, mild-upgrades) at the end of the back straight. Do you know if any of the spec Miata guys use the lift and brake in the bustop technique?

Noah sold his Sentra and picked up a Saturn beater~ it's terrifying to drive. Clint just finished a cross-country trip from Seattle and picked up a beater Miata. I think he's in the midst of prepping the Protege for ice racing.

I'm familiar with the "Pansy Patrol", so a story about roadracing a beater Protege sticks out to me as a definate Clint thing.

| Your a hero to us all, lol. Reminds me of my days roadracing an old SE-R with a $0 budget. Paying the fee's with favors, duct tape "hood pins", you know.
