| Preping car, have I forgotten anything? I've had the car since the fall (an 89 325i with a 4.10lsd) and the preparation thus far has included the following: Going through the suspension, Bilstein sports, Turner Motorsport Jstock springs, new LCA's, tie rods, 15inch wheels with the correct offset, new waterpump, timing belt, gas tank, racing seat, smaller diameter steering wheel, aftermarket chip and a catback exhaust. Some special shock mounts to give me a little more camber up front , brake ducting and special back plates to keep fade under control. I still need strut bars front and back, and rear shock tower reinforcement. Going to hold off on a harness until I get a cage or the very least a rollbar in there. Going to do a little solo1 this year, some driver ed and get to know the car a little better and then figure out what the next step(s) are. The ultimate goal is to set it up for BMW club racing in the prepared class. With that in mind, I don't really care if I get bumped into some silly Solo1 class because of my modifications; this year is about learning. Yes, I know that the spring and shock combo could be improved upon and I'll need proper camber plates but it's a starting point. Next year, I will add a 6pt cage, install a Shrick cam and add *lightness*. Sway bars, and bushings,THR lolipops, are also on the list for next year. I have two sets of Azenis (Azeni? ) to finish off along with some Yoko A520's that have some life left in them.I will of course flush all fluids and replace them with the good stuff before a wheel is turned in anger. Have I forgotten anything? Any input is greatly appreciated. ~andré~ Is it spring yet? |

| Well there you go, your forgetting about the cage/harness'. But you gave your reasons. I read your list and it seems the you have the car up to par with what you are going to be doing....though if you will go BMWCCA, something will need to change. Running in JS or IS (not sure which one for e30) wont let you run Cams etc etc. In my opinion, you need to get rid of the 4.10, the e30 is in its prime with a 3.63 or 73. E30 oil pumps are known to give out and in *****hard right turns the oil pump wont pick up any oil. This is a must fix, very few people know of this and it leads to problems down the road. Baffle helps a bit, your best bet is an aftermarket oil system. good luck carlos

| Hi Carlos, thanks for getting back to me. With the 4.10, I think I'll end up topping out at 220-230 kmh. I didn't think I would hit any straights that would be long enough to let me get beyond that. This being said, I'll see if I can pick up a 3.73 final drive for the longer tracks. I've read the rulebook and from what I understand, I am allowed to run a cam in the prepared class but not in stock. No other engine work is permitted apart from blueprinting. Thanks for the heads up on the oil pump, I wasn't aware of that. Are there any companies that make baffled pans for the M20? I know it's a common modification for S14's. An accusump system would take care of that would it not? What about running an extra litre of oil in the meantime? Thanks, -andre- Is it spring yet? |

| Defenetly pick up an accusump and take care of it while your at this stage. The THR lolipops are great, i remember last year when they showed them to us over at VIR
