VIR raceway - perfect racing line? Check me lol.. (makes you wanna race!)

Wow, after finishing this and following through a lap mentally.. I can almost hear the engine/see the track in my head lol.
I'm pretty sure a friend of mine that owns a local shop is going to trailer out the M3 in a couple weeks (might go this friday behind a pace car to get a feel for things.)

I'm going to take the short class before actual track time but I'm just seeing if I've got my line correct so far. I might add braking points later on if I get more into it lol.

Currently has dado's old Intrax ARS (w/ koni adjustables) coilover system (I think the ones CDOC installed in Mischief Invasion.) They should be up to the task!
I'm thinking.. motorsport x-brace and a strut brace, also some new rotors and a set of decent tires if anyone in the area is willing to let me put a couple laps on them.
Beyond that.. I figure it's an M3 already, I'm not going to bother messing with much else lol.

Here ya go!

edit: I used the line tool in PS so it's not exactly the most curvy thing ever but you get the turn-in/apex points.

Anyone know what kind of speeds you can get up to on the back straight? 4000 feet is a lot! Especially if you carry about 30mph coming out of turn 11 in 2nd.

Nope! It's 6 hours away, but looks to be worth it. That's actually part of the reason I did it. I talked to a person who raced there and he said the esses were the only thing that wasn't right, apparently the perspective is a little weird on the map.

here's a lap at VIR on video. My favorite track, there is an event this weekend over there.

Hey Dado, how did you get the accelerometer data onto the video like that? I have been trying to find a way to get that data or even just the speed from a GPS unit, so I can display how fast I am actually going on my dirtbike. while. I have been doing some illegal riding on public roads at night, and I want to film it from my helmet camera with the speed displayed. I think you would like the video considering it is not a street legal bike to begin with and passing people on country roads at 80+ mph in a wheelie is fun.

I'd make sure your brakes are up to task. New fluid, pads with more than 50% percent left, rotors w/o a lip.

You won't even push your car during your first DE, but you can abuse the brakes. Make sure they are up to task.

How much is a track day at VIR?

How much track time do you get for that?

I'm thinking about getting some Brembo rotors soon, I'll probably replace the fluid now, and finish up the OEM pads (they have a lot left though) and rotors (they are on their way.)

Anyone know how fast the pace car goes? I might go there Friday.

If they are parade laps, i doubt they go above highway speeds. 60-70 mph.

That's what I figured, just as well.. it will probably be crowded with people that have no idea what a race line is (ie. cutting people off who are trying to take the lines.)

I'm just thinking about doing it because it's $25 and I can get a feel for the track and maybe memorize some of it.

From turn 14-17A, you better be on your apexes or else your gonna be off roading in the grass. Watch yourself through the esses and ALWAYS LOOK AHEAD!! If you drive over your hood, you might as well start parting out your car now. VIR is a great track, but it can bite you in the ass if your not careful. Just have a good time and dont become cocky, cause thats when the shit hits the fan.
