| yeah sounds like parade laps, it's a good way to get acquainted with the track but like SG said you won't be going over 80mph or so. As for the DE, for a two day course you are looking at around $300 |

| VIR is a very fast track. Brakes will take a large abuse and so will your tires. I remember when i had my e30, i took it on a parade lap and was right behind a 328is like 10 cars behind the pace car. They told us not to slow down and then mash it on the back straight in order to get high speeds. Well the guy infront of me was an instructor and decide to do so anyways. As we both came around the Oak Tree, he floored it...and so did I. I got up to 100mph+ and then cut down way before the next turn. I knew my brakes would fry. So i let off. THe track is by far my favorite out of all the ones we raced on this past BMWCCA season. We had great times at VIR and will hopefully continue to do so.

| Defenetly, im trying to take my car to a DE there sometime early next year. like january or February. I absolutely love that track. Bring your helmet! you never know, i once got a ride in a 1967 GT40 that competed in Le Mans while we were at Beaverun. One of the most amazing machines i have ever riden in. So dont forget to bring your helmet!

| this thread is a joke right ....alex, listen man...here's how you can learn VIR... 1) forget you have an M3 with suspension or whatever...non of that $hit matters 2) forget you think you know how to drive...don't plan a line without ever having been on a track. 3) check the ego at the front gate and go there with an open mind 4) get an instructor and pay attention, focus on learning...don't worry about speed or passing. The track will show you that slower cars will be faster than faster cars if driven well 5) have fun Alex, try to learn, and keep it safe. hope this helps ![]()

From our last convo, you told me the best way was to take a perfect example car and destroy it into a heavy looking turd. I followed your advise I just cant seem time to find time to put it back together. |

| I live in the area and attended my first school in december. the track is awesome and you definitely need to learn the right line before you try to go fast. if not, you'll look like an idiot and piss a lot of people off. depending on your car, engine, etc. will determine how fast you will get up to on the front and back straights, although i learned that it's not the smartest thing to do, the straights are a good time to relax, talk to your instructor and concentrate on what's comming up...rollercoaster and hog pen...vir won't open back up until late feb. or early march. tarheel chapter bmw cca has an event the 5-6 of March out there full course and it may be the new grand course if they can get enough people to sign up because more people will be able to run in each run group....i'll be there! |

| Racing line?? The racing line is anywhere you can find room (including grass, in some cases). You made the perfect driving school line

| Those lines are a tad off, there are a few parts where the track curves, but you can still go straight. For example right after the kink on the straight the track slightly curves right all the way up to T1, but if you cut close to the pit out lane you can ride a straight line all the way to your brake markers. I have yet to run VIR full, I am addicted to the north course. Prob top out sixth of the full course, on north i was getting up to around 155 before braking for T1. I've always wanted to try a trackday in my car, so far its only been on two wheels. Looks like a car takes more mechanical abuse though. Have any of you guys every run just the north course? I am curious to what times cars put down, I was just down there last week and was in the mid 1:40's, prob get into the high 1:30's when I go back down april 3rd and 4th once I get some new tires on.
