| I think there was one called extreme geez or the g cube... something like that.. had a couple of accelerometers and some other stuff... and it would draw out a race track based on your racing line... combined with the g loading of the car... think it was in the $500 price range... only worked on palm's if I remember... needless try and find something like that.. should give you an idea.. you can't just use the GPS to find your accel or decell.. it's not that accurate.. and doesn't refresh fast enough.. it will aid in drawing out the track though.. the information you are looking for though would be more evident in the autoxcam system.. setup a thing like best motoring does with the brake and gas LED's.. and a camera on it.. it would provide a real time way of looking at a lap and seeing how you not only took turn one.. but how you took it with traffic involved or how long you really are off the gas and are late on accelerating.. etc etc.. a simple incar camera can yield tons of information and all you need is a stop watch and a pen to get lap times... listen to the engine to find your braking and accelerating points.. that's just with one camera... the autox system will tell you lap times without the stop watch.. as well as the g loading so you can get a feel for if your late entrance into the corner gave you better cornering speed (enhanced latteral g forces) or if it just felt faster... camera doesn't lie...

| A regular GPS will not track you well enough. I tried a Garmin GPS used for runners. You program the distance and it runs split laps automatically. I found sometimes it would split as I entered a turn, sometimes as I exited. It really wasn't even close to measure consistency. I think Geeze might me a better option.

Very interesting, and with the recent ban by several clubs on timing devices like the Hot Lap at open track days this could be a superior solution. ... |
