What was the exact problem with the belts, if the date was past, they are no good, its simple. Maybe the date was for April 2004, and if homestead was in march they would have been fine. Belts wear out, and even with a decent factor of safety for the belts life, its a good idea to replace them when they get closeto or even pass the exp date.

My mistake it was BMWCCA not SCCA. Dad said that every tech inspector so far has passed him, saying that the harness date is up to par and is correct, but will need to be updated/replaced next year. Needless to say, his boss is quite angry.

Well I guess he learned the hard way...Safety is very important to these clubs. You'd rather have them be careful then worryless. Sorry for the problems they had, just make sure everything is now upto spec for the following events. Many companies have trade in programs where they will give you discount towards new belts.

| From what I understood the belts had dates on the lap belts and not the shoulder belts. I offered Jimmy my belts from the passenger side of my car but he just packed up his shit and left.

yeah but according to the book or someone else that certain parts come as sets so if the date is on one part, that counts for the entire harness's dates. dad said jimmy almost wanted to get a porsche and start racing that
