new slicks from dunlop, might try them out.

correction: Dunlop had the wrong picture on their website. This tire as you can see is not a slick and dunlop has changed the picture to the correct one. They had a picture of a slick on their ad before

Called a local shop today to get prices and more info on this tire. I still can't believe it but they are DOT Approved so it's perfect for the people that drive their cars to the track. The shop is sending me a booklet with pictures and specs on them. I might try them out since they make just the sizes I need and the price is not bad at all.

For 235/40/18 the cost is $234
for 255/35/18 the cost is $236

one reason why I think its not DOT appoved is that there is no tread on those tires to release road debris. .nevermind, I think the picture of the tire has changed One time I followed my friend around who had hoosier slicks on his AE86. The front of my car had knicks from all the little tiny stones and pepples it picked up and kicked at my car

Nice, looks like we will have a great selection of new tires. The kumho 710, New Hooiser, these dunlops, and we could put in the Goodyear GS-CS

I just want to make sure I understand - these new Dunlops are DOT R-Comps?

Be interested to know how they compare with the Goodyear GS-CS

Isn't Dunlop owned by Goodyear? I had heard that Dunlop was made the spec tire for the Rolex/Daytona series because of some Daytona/Goodyear/NASCAR connection. Maybe Goodyear is letting Dunlop take over road race marketing/support while keeping Goodyear prominent in NASCAR.

Dado, do you have a model number for this tire (the slick)?

It also appears that where you had the pic linked, it changed

I use 245/40x17s

I know I'm not imagining it, but didn't the picture of the tire change?

Your right, it did change. The first tire pictured was a dot r comp, looked very much like the 710.

Dot-r's are not slicks either.

The compound and structures used in the tires are different and perform substantially different then a true full slick.

Yes, they are very differet. But sometimes if someone says slick you don't have to take them word for word. None of use here would use slicks, except maybe you.

WHy would clubracers not use slicks, its bmwcca, MANY people use slicks. Yokohama, dunlops, there are many that club racers use. Its the best perfomance tires you can get, why not use them? DTM is planning to have such a big-tado club racing team, they better get thier terms right hehe

the picture changed by itself, they replaced the filename since I didn't even edit the post.

well for some reason dunlop used the picture of a slick on their website. Seems like it was an error on their part and they changed the picture. I got to see the dunlop's this weekend at VIR and I don't plan on running them anymore. They are not slicks like the picture that they were using before. It was an error on their part so chill litewait M3
