| Helmets hey guys, I am getting ready to get in to autocrossing and am going to start going to some track days. I was wondering what helmets you all use and what you would suggest. Thanks a lot!

Should I get open or closed face since I probablly won't be driving in an open cockpit anytime soon.

| yeah i agree with sg m3 in trying on a helmet. that's the only real way to get a good fit. also, don't go cheap with a helmet. get the best one possible for your price range. remember, it's your head on the line. Personal preference: Bell, closed face.

| Does snell make helmets? Anyways, I prefer an open face. I feel a little trapped inside a closed and the opens help with vision. Also, spend as much money on this as you can and get a good helmet. It's there to protect your life. |

| I would get a pyrotect helmet --- MUCH cheaper than Bell or Bieffe. www.pyrotect.com -- Get an SA00 -- this way, it lasts until 2010. Matt - actually, if he is only auto-x, technically, he can just wear a motorcycle helmet DOT approved. At least with the groups around here. If you are not going to track it (HPDE) -- no sense in getting a Bell M2 or anything like that, just get a nice open-face SA95 b/c you can pick one up for around $100-$120. |

| i have a bell M2 and i am very happy with it, i had a track day in jusne, 3 20minute sessions and my head stayed cool the hole time! it was 300 bucks and is very comfortable.
