| Here are the Results from the Mada Rev-it-up Competition. http://www.mazdarevitup.com/f_home.asp Here are the Pro Class Results from NY: http://www.mazdarevitup.com//Results/f_default.asp#go I still am in shock that I actually won this event and am headed to the Finals at Leguna Seca Raceway in California! So far this is the largest Regional Event in which I have won. When I walked over to the Competition area, they had this huge 30 foot by 30 foot TV Screen which they had the results posted from everyone. As I was standing there waiting my turn to take a run through the course, I was looking at the results and I knew just about everyone in the Top 15. All of them have been SCCA Autocross National Champions, or at least Regional Champions. So I kept looking over the list, and was looking at each name saying to myself (hmm, I know him and he's really good, there's no way I can beat him) and I kept saying this to just about every name that was on the score board. So with all that in mind, I just said to myself at least I can have fun and see what I can do even though I'm probably not going to win. So I took my first run and screwed up and forgot to shift the car in to second gear and banged off the rev limiter for about 1.5 seconds, then continued on my run. I wound up getting a 22.7"" which to me felt really good, but I knew I could make a faster time since I forgot to shift gears at the beginning of the course. As I got out of the car a woman walked over to me and started to interview me about the run and asking me questions about myself. That first run though the course put me in 15th overall, and the woman who was interviewing me put the whole interview over the PA system in the place so everyone could hear. She also asked if it would be ok to do some on course commentary during my next run, so I didn't have a problem with it and said sure go ahead. I got ready to take my second and final run through the course. I got in one of the cars, and got ready and while I was waiting, I was mentally visuallizing myself driving through the course several times to try and see where I could make some time. So I rolled up to the line, the starter said go, and I took off. I went through the course practically perfect. At the end of the run, I didn't see my time right away, but I knew that it was good and it was faster then the first (I also still knew that I could have gone a tiny bit faster). All of a sudden I heard the woman that had interviewed me call over the PA that I had just set top time of the weekend. At that moment, I didn't believe it (and I didn't believe it for a while). They directed me to park and I got out of the car and was interviewed again. This interview went on for like an hour and they wanted to know everything about me. They took several photos of me, and took a couple of photos of me standing in front of the large screen showing my name in first place. At that point I started getting all excited and it started to hit me. After the interview I got out my cell phone and just started calling who ever I could think of. I told everyone that I was in first, but didn't know how long I would be in first for. The event for me ended at 1pm and the actual end of the event wasn't until 6pm, so it was possible that several people could have come in and beat my time. My Second run time was a 21.499, which I believe was about 0.034 thousandths of a second away from the Pro Driver which Mazda used to base everyone's time off of. Now that the Results are Official, I'm really excited! I can't wait to go to the Finals! I've never been to California and have always wanted to go to Leguna Seca Raceway. It looks like I finally got an opportunity which I never thought I would have! There will be 20 drivers competing in the finals and the winner of the finals gets to take home a brand new Mazda 6 Sedan! ![]() I'll let everyone know what happens at the finals! Did anyone else from here Compete? |

| I went to the event in Miami on 5/1/03. I was pretty disappointed and only scored a 480-something :\ But oh well. I guess I need to get out on courses and practice a little more. -Ducky

im sure you will have no problem getting sponcered for that I toast to you I have heard that the corkscrew isn't the hardest part of the track really. Heard it from a kid at the mid ohio school that is sponcered by acura and races RSX's. I would almost recomend going out there early and possibly getting some time in on the track... rent a Mazda 6 and go out for a driving school or something help you have a better feel for the trackEDIT: I think you forgot to mention that you were 3rd overall in national rankings GOOD LUCK
