| Mini Cooper loaner Has anyone driven a Mini Cooper here? The new ones? I got one as a loaner atm... damn it's no where near as smooth as the 320!! Gas pedal is really touchy.... feels like a manual even though it's an auto how it jerks n stuff... A hell of a lot smaller than i imagined as well.... and the seat doesn't go very low either... On the plus side, the stereo kicks butt over the stock e46 stereo and u get a lot more looks  Plus heaps easier to park...Has anyone driven a Cooper AND a Cooper S? How do they compare??      |

| I've ridden in (but haven't driven) a Cooper S and thought it went very well. It seemed smooth and was actually a lot roomier than I thought it would be. Suspension was a bit firm, but that was expected. Didn't get to hear the stereo, but the engine sounded sweet. This thing moved pretty well as well - they cut a quarter mile in low 15's. |

| Maybe i'm just too used to the silky smooth inline-6.... Really makes u appreciate ur BMW once you drive other cars...

Granted the back seats are a waste of time.. personally i think it shoulda just been made a 2 seater and with the wheel at each corner and a relatively short wheel base u cant expect a silky smooth ride.. its all horse for courses i suppose, if u want an aloof, floating on the road drive, u'd choose a luxury sedan, i enjoy a small car, with firm suspension like the S, the engaging ride, the fun of the twisties, its much more a drivers car than any other in its class.. (CAR magazine 4th sports car of the year beaten by the zonda, ferrari 575 and merc AMG SL55, 6th in EVO's car of the year, again only beaten by supercars and dedcated sportscar worth a hell of a lot more i could go on, but i'll spare u )Im not sure if the cooper u have is fitted with the sports suspension or not, but either way, give it a cain thru some winding road, not 2 sure how it'd go with the auto box, but im sure it'll b a rewarding experience |

| Ya haven't had the chance to do any twisties yet, mainly city driving which is why i miss the 320 lol. Although i am getting used to it a bit... And i figured out that the transmission is one of those CVT doowhacky things. Continuously variable transmission. I think this means that there's no real 'gears' - u can hear it when u downshift. Trying to drive it like a manual with the steptronic smoothly doesn't really work lol. Btw does anyone know what the redline is on these things? It's got an M3 style redline thing which is lit up... and at the moment says redline is 5500 rpm. I'm thinking that's a bit low, and maybe is to do with the fact that it only has 300km on the clock?
