| Wow thats awesome you guys are okay. Unbelievable how the MINI held up. You should send in a letter to BMW with the story and they probably put it in BMW Magazine. I'd be histerical if i was okay after that one!

| I just returned from the crash site. The skid marks (from our car and the Ford Explorer's) are 60 yards long. It is very apparent that what happened is that we hooked up with the Explorer. We couldn't unlock from each other. The debris field is pretty large as well. Stuff was strewn about the freeway (off to the right side). All sorts of car parts are discernable. The steering on the MINI is extremely sensitive. My wife only needed to give it a nugdge. Unfortunately, she gave it the old heave-ho. I believe that had more to do with it than anything else. If the vehicle we crashed into (by the way, everyone was ok in that Explorer) had not been there, it's very possible that she could have pulled out of it. But "what ifs" abound in my head right now. There's a possibility that she would not have pulled out and we would have hit the right emergency lane area and flip as we hit the embankment. Still, I accept our scenario as the only scenario. We are not living in a video game, so it makes little sense for us to think of what might have happened if X, Y, and Z happened. Tomorrow I will get a chance to see the car in person. At that point, I'll have a pretty good idea of how well it held up. At that point, I will determine whether or not I think the MINI could hold up as well in other types of accidents. If I determine that it would, I will be ordering a new MCS post haste. I will post pictures tomorrow as well.

| Holy shit, that accident sounds insane. Glad to hear you and your wife made out out nearly unscathed. The MINI Coopers definitely have sensitive steering, my Z3 is similar but not quite as quick a ratio lock-to-lock. stjobs |
