Depends on if you like the factory warranty

You can get more power from aftermarket components that will be cheaper HP/$$ than the JCW kit, but you will more than likely void the warranty.

I say go test drive a 2005 MCS and see if that alone brings out a smile.

A go cart.

And maybe a nicely tuned Miata. My dad got a Cooper S two weeks ago and I can not take the smile off my face when I drive that car. I have driven his 02' M3, my moms X3 and my 325i and as far as the "fun" factor, the Cooper S wins. The M3 wins in the addrenaline factor, but thats differen't.

There just isn't anything like the experience you get with the Cooper S, plain and simple. Take it to a road with lots of long swooping turns, do some rev-matching w/ some heavy come out's of turns, and then lastly some good quick 45 degree turns and you'll see.....

The JCW kit is an after-market installation, that you can buy and go to your dealer and have it installed and still have your warranty intact.

There isn't any factory-production Mini Cooper S JCW out yet.

DDD is right, you can get more bang with fewer $$$ from aftermarket stuff. The dealer will tell you that your warranty will be voided if you install aftermarket stuff on your mini. My gf has a mini cooper S and the fact is... if something should break, the dealer has to prove that the failure is a direct result of the aftermarket parts inorder for them to check the checkbox "Warranty Voided".

She recently got a 15% pulley and an alta intake and that thing is night/day difference, add a chip upgrade and she will be running with a JCW'ed mini cooper easily, all at the fraction of a JCW cooper.

I would get a reg S and get the mini mania stage 3 or 4 for the price of the works, and it will be a lot faster.
