| today: my day this is a community, right?...
It has taken me just a few months shy of a year to do this but I finally picked up my new 05 today! I gotta say, though, I'm not exactly sure how to feel right now. The car seems awesome, of course, but its sad in some ways because its not my car anymore. Since the updates that have been worked out for the 05s, it is supposed to be faster (which is quite noticeable, actually, even thought its only...what was is, 7 horsepower?) it feels different. The clutch feels a lot softer and lighter, for one, and I can't figure out if that's a bad thing or a good thing, yet. Also, they no longer carry the two-spoke steering wheel, which I became very accustomed to because I feels fit my whole meat hooks on 'em and I got a lot of feedback from, because it doesn't meet 06 standards (but it isn't 06 yet???), so that was a bummer. But hey, the glass is supposed to be half full, right?!? I mean, I got a free new car!...well, I can't exactly say free because it hasn't been without any work! I have had to fight with them for almost a full year and had to pay for the first 3000 miles because I "enjoyed the car up to that point", which is really stupid because the problem was still there, I just wouldn't have ever thought that I needed to worry about it, it being a brand new car and everything. Oh, I haven't even explained myself, have I? Okay, well, the situation was this: the lemon law states (this is probably different in each state, but here in CA) that if you take a car in for the same problem 4 or more times within, approximately, a year, your car is legally a lemon. I sure this depends on how old the cars is, of course - you can't try to get a new car out of a pinto that you have taken in more than four times this year because it keeps blowing up when you try to fill it up with gas, for instance. So, I took my car in five times within a year, and made sure to document ever visit I had so that there was no confusion, because the coolant kept mysteriously disappearing. Every time I brought it in, they tried something new to remedy the problem, but came up bump. So, once I took it in for the fifth time, I contacted a lemon law specified attorney and went from there. Now, here I am, almost a year later, about $1400 poorer, and with a new and revamped Cooper S, so why do I not feel victorious? Well, because it still isn’t over. I just found out tonight that they didn’t give me the exact car I ordered, for some reason (they are supposed to give me the exact car that I had, basically). They didn’t give me the rally lights, which was apparent immediately and they said they would take care of it on Monday, but as I left Blockbuster to exchange a movie for my mom because she picked up the wrong movie thinking that it was the right one because it was behind the movie case she wanted to see, when I looked at the roof and thought “futher muck, its black!” I specifically ordered body color roof, and its very important to me because, as I have made clear around these parts, I am not to partial to the black or white contrast roofs, and too many mini owners have that (not that that really matters, but…yeah, to me it does - I gotsta stand apart somehow!).
So, wow…crap, this got really long. Well, I hope you enjoyed my short novel! I just thought that I should explain what I meant by “-02 Copper S-(<line through it) 05 Cooper S”. Why? Well, because my life experience matter so much to you all and I didn’t want to leave you in the dark about an interesting and unordinary that I had today. So, there you go. If this bothered you in any way, don’t hesitate to voice your opinion, for you won’t be able to for long…what?!?
