Should i go from the 15% pulley to the 19%?

I would love the extra horsepower and torque.

I have the 19% and it is a very different beast from the 15%.

With the 19% there is a concern about IAT being a little too high, so it will likely need an intercooler upgrade as well. Since we're in th thick of winter here, I haven't worried about it too much but I will have a revised IC by spring.

The 15% makes for a very well balanced car. The 19% creates a monster and, in some respects, makes the MCS more of a challenge/chore to drive at full-tilt. At WOT with the 19% above 5500rpm your main goal becomes keeping the car on the road.

The reliability jury is still out on the 19% so that's another reason not to do it.

I guess it depends on whether you want awesome acceleration and monster torque steer or a slightly slower ride that's easier to exploit.

YMMV,
Kev

There's been talk that the 19% pulley may have an adverse affect on the waterpump.

I haven't "heard" of any problems as of yet, but time will tell.

I think the 15% with a GOOD ecu flash is the way to go.

I am tempted to go with the 19%. PROMINI, Helix, and numerous consumers have the 19% on their car and have reported no problems. PROMINI (BMP) says theirs has been on for 20k miles with no problems. Helix reports similar results.

I've been doing a little searching tonight on the Mini boards and haven't found any "published" dyno's. But, I did find threads where they have found that it's only an increase of 7-8hp and 6-7 ftlbs trq.

I don't know how relieable the info was but that seems to be the accepted figures.

Oh yeah...

I'm getting the 15% done at Mini of Sterling. They are charging me 570 dollars and will honor my original warranty. For those kinds of mods I will certainly pay the premium price.

Fun times ahead... Let the modding begin!

I haven't seen too many dyno numbers for the 19% yet...

The 15% pulley should yield approx ~ 15-18whp & 12-14 lbs trq. I've heard/read that the 19% will give approx 5-6 more hp and 6-7 lbs trq. than the 15%. Not much for me to get gaga over.

I'm just not sure what the effeciency of the blower is with the 19%.

The JCW kit uses a 15%. I would think their R&D guys found the best solution. But, you have to also consider that they want to keep the car within safe limits.

Got the pulley done!

Awesome mod to do. Absolutely the best bang for the buck.

I went 15% - the car screams now. Oh so much fun to drive!

rock on!

Congrats kapolani. The pulley makes a huge difference. Just give it a few months and you'll be itching for more.

to let anyone know who is thinking about a 19 percent reduction pulley one came into my deaer the other day and the way they explained it to me was that it was literally eating the supercharger from the inside out. this was after about 5,000 on that pulley i believe, 17% is the safest one while aslo giving u good hp and torque gains, 19 is a litle risky on a non upgrade supercharger

If you http://www.cat-dogracing.com/ and go to

1. Pics of our current project Car
2. Dyno Charts of Our Project Car
3. Supercharger inspection at 40k with 19%

You will see Pictures of a Supercharger inspection.
If then broke there car with a 19%, they must have been tracking it and had no intercooler. ALTA is now doing the 19% pulley, trouble free.

Not saying the dealer is wrong, but there are too many people out there with the 19% and have over 10k miles on them and have had no problems.
