| They are awesome little cars, but I would reccomend that you go to your local dealer and test drive one to see for yourself. You dont say where in SoCal you are, but I went to Irvine BMW / MINI and they are the best! I have also heard that Crevier BMW / MINI is very good as well. The Cooper S only comes in manual, and I dont think they ever plan to release an automatic version of it. If you are stuck with automatic, then you are looking at the MINI Cooper with CVT. Good luck! |

| Back when I was first looking at MINIs (a year ago) my dad test drove a Cooper w/the CVT transmission. Needless to say, it was nowhere near as brisk as my Cooper S. My dad wanted to get the CVT so my mom could drive it if anything should happen to her X5, but there weren't any for sale at the time (only for test drives) and I found a Cooper S for sale w/only 500 miles for it and jumped on it. As far as the car goes...it's truly a unique experience. It's not like any other car, you really kind of bond with it and get to know all its nuances. You end up spending time researching what mods to do and posting on forums like this. Oh, and scaring SUV drivers when you scream by them on a sweeping curvy road is really fun too! ![]()
