PURPOSE

An opportunity for M3 enthusiast to get together, put names to faces, share car stories and ideas, show off our cars, and show our gratitude to the members of our Armed Forces by raising money and contributing to the Fisher House Foundation. Briefly, the Fisher House Foundation provide free temporary housing for families of wounded Veterans at major military and VA medical centers.

LOCATION

Currently the parking lot at Racing Dynamics. We can hold about 60 cars and still have some room for other stuff. Backup location would be the parking lot at Wolf Trap (I still have to look into this)

DATE & TIME

Currently April 29th. However, the charity event for the U of Maryland is the 29th. If we think this would be a conflict, then we can pick another date. Time is 12:00 to 4:00 (al open for suggestion on time).

RAFFLE

To raise money for donations to the Fisher House Foundation, we will raffle as many items as we can that have some value to someone. For example, a Rasp Terminator, K&N 63, (maybe, just maybe a set of CSL replicas), etc. Gary of Martin Motorsports will donate as well as Racing Dynamics.

Here's the raffle items to date:

ACTIVITIES

I would like to have this catered by someone like Dixie Bones or some type of Bar-B-Que place. This would be our contribution to the event (Custom Performance - would sponsor this part). Then maybe $5.00 per person for ribs, burgers, cole slaw…the money collected for the food would be part of the overall donation.

Our friend Darcy will be there to take pictures of cars, people, pets…and the event. For a small donation, people could have a professional picture of their car and/or family. We can setup an area that has a nice background for some car shots.

Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House™ Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time - during the hospitalization resulting from injuries sustained during combat.

All donations are tax deductible. All I need is your name and address to give to the Fisher House so they can send out official receipts.

Donations can also be made directly to the Fisher House Foundation.

Spread the word. It was suggested that members could add something in there signature to spread the word on the M3Forum. Perhaps something like:

I had planned on going to the Univ. of Maryland meet that day - but maybe I can do both. Definitely a worthwhile cause.

I think I'll attend this one first on the 29th. Parking may be limited at Racing Dynamics, even though they have a good sized lot. My bet is that people are late getting to CP for that meet, and as mentioned in the other thread, there is ample parking at the University.

For those who have not attended a charity car event before, in my opinion they are much more enjoyable than your average event. People have a good attitude going in knowing they are helping a good cause, and older enthusiasts typically bring out their "Sunday" cars for the event.

Racing Dynamics will be donating some items.

(1) Fender rolling for a BMW E46 by LipTuck Performance ($100 value). Gain some fender clearance for your custom aftermarket wheels. This will be performed during the event (if the winner chooses). Many people would like to see how fender rolling in done professionally.

(2) Cases (that's right! 2 cases - 24 quarts) of Motul engine oil (viscosity 0W40) from Road Race Technolgies in Dulles VA (thanks Matt!). Depending on the winner, Matt is willing to match the vehicle specified viscosity.

Since I haven't been to a charity car event before, and for those who haven't either, what would be a minimum donation that the organizers would like to see? Or is there an overall goal that the event is trying to reach?

Well I know they are holding a raffle for $1.00 a ticket.. All that goes towards the charity.. no certain amount is set. A donation is a donation.
