| Changing transmission fluid on 1998 528i? Is there a way to check the transmission fluid on a 1998 528i? It seems that like when the car is cold, and not driven for a day, the transmission doesn't upshift into the next gear when it should, until the car is warm. After that, it shifts fine. This is on an automatic by the way. Thanks! |

| It might be something regarding the engine management. It might want to keep it in higher gear for the car to warm up. I wish I could check this for you but mine is being worked on right now. I have a temp 2000 Maxima GLE for now.

| It has nothing to do with the engine managment... The transmission in your car is a five speed automatic, no maintence transmission... I would not suggest changing the fluid. A jug of the fluid for that car costs about $125. How long have you had the car and do you know if the previous owner ever did any towing with the car? Could be something more serious, then again, your driving style will also alter the way the transmission shifts. Then again, it could just be the cold weather... |
