I think some of you guys need to stop hating on others. Everyone has their own indivual likes and dislikes. Some people like trucks, some like bikes, some like bmws, some like benz's. Some like to race, some like to show, some like to keep their car stock. It all depends on what YOU like, not what others think. That is what this country is about, doing your own thing. But then again, having your own opinion, like some of you on here obvious have strong ones, is also what this country is about. I just think that you should respect other people and not hate. If putting a 4ft. wing on a stock 318 makes you happy, then thats great.

Why should all BMW's be more go than show?

Sure, I make fun of people who have stock hondas with fart cans on their cars and hubcaps with fake drilled rotors but at the same time, you gatta think, maybe they just arent as fortunate to be able to buy a $20k+ BMW and mod it.

I give respect to anyone who is into cars, even if they lack good taste, and I dont think that just because you drive a BMW you should look down on "ricers"

As the ricer of them all, my car is rice and i love eating rice and i eat rice everyday... does it really hurt ....or maybe your going to fast to stop and appreciated a wonderfull cooked rice...

That's kind of the point though... I'm putting my nomex back on here to explain why in a not very PC way...

If you are poor, and own a lower cost car, you should be putting your money into more productive places than the car you drive. People with little money can't afford nice cars, or legitimate mods, so they use what little money they do have to buy things like those fake drilled rotor hubcaps, fart can exhausts, and oversized pink wiper covers in the hopes of giving people the impression that they have more money than they really do. At it's most basic level, it's trying to show the female of the species that you have material wealth in the hopes that she will mate with you... In the case of that black dude from "Mannequin", he was trying attract guys with that pink Caddy. (It can work both ways I guess)

It upsets most people who value their money and where it came from, and have spent good money on their expensive cars, to think that those who have worked less hard and therefore have less to show for it can simply slap some cheap plastic or a sushi-platter wing onto their car and assume they are suddenly considered rich (Because their car looks faster, hence more expensive). This is a basic element of group conflict, in this case between those with money and those without. I think this is the essence of "rice," and as such people look down on it. The only valid excuse in my opinion for putting aerodynamic mods on a BMW is to legitimately add to the performance of a vehicle that otherwise would have a lower level of performance without. This legitimacy, is the "anti-rice" in that you are not necessarily trying to puff up your feathers to show off your wealth (Or faux-wealth). For example, you can put almost anything on a car that cost more than 30K to begin with without it being rice (Especially if it's an M3, M5, or other high performance car), since what you started with was expensive to begin with, and will most likely benefit from a performance aspect from the modification. Doing the same thing to a honda with cheap replica parts is rice, since the people doing the mods should be putting their money elsewhere to begin with. (Stop trying to look faster/richer than you are!)


Bottom line, if you're not in high school (Which means your cost of living is low), and you can't afford to buy a nice car, much less modify it, and you have to drive an inexpensive car because of your low income, then you should be putting your money towards improving your socioeconomic status instead of trying to look like you already have.

Spending thousands on a system before performance mods is rice. I just got those fake rotor caps that make it look like you have cross drilled rotors and fat pads, it's hella tight.

As far as rice goes, I am entitled to my own opinion as everyone else is.

Rice-

ANY CAR BRAND with Altezzas, Fart Tips, Blue Bulbs, Red Type "R" stickers, Kanji, Intake, Tachometer with Shift Light (on auto transmission), etc., and ESPECIALLY an oversized aluminum aircraft carrier wing on the back. AND THE ASSHOLES who wake me up in the middle of the night with their lawnmower sounding crappy exhaust systems rolling down the street in my neighborhood.

Don't care if its a japanese car, american car, etc.-It's still RICE.
