Talking 5 series are KING baby!

I have an E34 540i 6-speed. Right now I'm mostly stock, except for a UUC short shift kit, M5 throwing star wheels and Potenza RE730, some EBC redstuffs in the front with metal masters in the back. As many you may have read, I've had a Super Sprint exhaust on order for ever. I just got a new clutch and flywheel. Upcoming mods include the obligatory sport mirrors (eventhough the 540 has the best of thes squares), chip, haven't decided the brand and some bigger rotors.

Long term plans:
Suspension
Porsche Brakes upgrade

2 year long term:
S/C

I also have an E46 M3, my mommy has an E39 540i, she talks shit about the 3 series all the time.

Oh and other than some little Dinan part sitting in a box in my trunk, I have no Dinan shit, I've just always had the name Dinan.

well, let's see some pics of this e34! are the throwing stars 17's? from what i understand those wheels are tough to find in anything but 16". lucky enough for me mine came stock

the M mirrors look great on the e34. that's what mine has, and they really add an aggressive look to the car!

pics please!

for the throwing stars, i don't think size is the issue. i heard the problem is finding originals (replicas "twists" are the same for all 4 wheels, which makes them look odd on either left or right side). but every once in a while there is somebody selling some.

as for the m mirrors, those are awesome. i have some too that were off a wrecked 540i sport.

anyway, i drive a slow e34 525i with a slushbox. fun car to take on long trips though.

it's odd that the twists are the same. the throwing stars are unique because the star itself is just a cover. they are designed so that they create a fan type suction that draws air in to cool the brakes. they are some of the strangest wheels i've ever seen. the owner's manual says that each wheel can only go on one side of the car. the left ones can only be on the left side, etc. and the spare tire is only for the right side. apparently if you get a flat on one of the left wheels, you may actually destroy the wheel by leaving it on the wrong side too long. how crazy is that??

oh, here's a pic of my 540i M Sport

I love your cars, all of you. E34's kick major butt. Next ride will be a 540i/6-spped or a E34 M5.
Rock on guys E34's do kick ass

NoSaabs: yea, that's what i was trying to say, that two rims are designed for the left and two rims are designed for the right. from what i heard, the replicas are not like that, so one side looks like the twists are going in the wrong direction. the replicas are not covers as well. some guys have actually modified the older e34 m5 rims (the ones that look like hub caps with white walls) to use the newer throwing star covers, pretty cool. beautiful car btw.

ChrisFL: thanx! i want e36 as a second car. i think that car would be fun to mod.

Its not really a modification, they are the same wheels, just with different covers over the black five stars.

actually it was documented on the web. i guess the actual rim slightly changed over the years. with the newer throwing stars, a few tabs had to be broken off. very minor mod.

anyway, about your rd kit, i like the rear piece! do you know of a good place to get it?

thanx!

Thanks, Ryan just took out my factory airbox and put on a K&N, my V8 sounds mean now when accelerating, we kept giggling like little kids when we tested it out, much cleaner and stronger acceleration in first and second gear. Finally I can hear my engine.
