Recharging E34 A/C

So i found out how easy it is to do this today, for most E34's, all you need is the charging tube and some R-134 Refridgerent.($20 for everything compared to $100 @midas) all you need to do is find the tube that runs from the compressor (on the left side of the Engine bay), take off the cap, and hook up the tube, voila! ill post some pics if you really need me to, but its pretty self explanitory....I love A/C!

Okay, so I don't need pics, but where did you pick up the charging tube? The AC in my e34 is basically nonexistant right now. My wife is REALLY complaining.

man i love the ac in my e34, but the ac in my jeep and my suburban never gets cold, so i wonder if that new charge is the new stuff or the old stuff, cause the old stuff is the good shiot

You should be able to pick the charging stuff up at any car parts store, i got mine at a Meijer store near my house. be sure to pick up a few (3 or 4) of the actual cans of re-charger and to have the car running with the A/C on full blast when you fill it up.

The last time I had my A/C unit regassed I found my self buying an environmentaly friendly unit as the one that was in there was giving out chloro fluro carbons, cfc's....they refused to regass it as it is illegal. My E34 was bulit in OCT '88 I think they put the new unit in soon after that

I find the AC in my car generally weak compare to my bro's 93 318is.

well mine doesnt need recharging(the AC freezes at night) but i do have a question(might be stupid).

Well on level 4 which is full blast( which is not strong at all) on my car its only comparable to level 2 on my brother's (his max level is like a freakin JET). Is that how the cars were made? Or is there a lil fixin needed for my AC?

well if it seems really weak, like somethin is not right, i think mabye one of your fans is out... but my level 4 setting is pretty fast, lets say fast enough so if you put you eye about a foot from it and direct it toward your eye that it can not stay open

umm...have you tested that theory? good call on the broken fan though, that's what i would have said....
