| e39 engine swap ideas i have an e39 525 (factory higher hp version of the 523) which has an overheated m52 2.5litre engine and am considering putting a different engine iin it. some of the possibles would be a v8 toyota or nissan or a nissan vg30dett or rb25det with 5 speed both of which are easily capeable of 400+ hp with out too much work. has anyone done or heard of these swaps being done or of any others into an e39? one of the major concerns would be whether the engines would atually fit the engine bay.. so does anyone have engine bay dimensions (taken without engine fitted)? cheers |

| ya nissan as in the rb series and im assuming u'd be doing a jz series for the toyota aspect.... answer is no.... bad i idea swap in an ls1 or lsx engine, there is a thread on bimmerforums .com of a dude puttin a nice LS1 into a white e34 525i touring... which is straight BADASS |

| Hey mate, sorry to hijack your thread but my topic is similar and im too new to be able to post new threads. Now im sure this has been covered but i did a quick search and was unable to find the info i need. I own a 98 528i, its nice.. its comfy and its really slow. Ive recently bought a fire damaged e39 m5 and plan to swap virtually everything accross into my 528 body. Both are aus delivered rhd cars and its my belief that only the rear of the car is different to accomodate the giant muffler and perhaps a different diff mounting. Luckily i have the whole car to take bits from. What does everyone know of this conversion?? Id love some info.. Does anyone know if there is any difference in crossmember and firewall? I understand theres issues with factory ecus and computers not matching up but that will be overcome by an aftermarket ecu. As for the asc im not sure yet.. but who wants traction control in a sports car anyway? Tell us what you know. Cheers. |
