can anyone tell me some signs of a u joint going out?

U-joint......looseness & play from neutral position into gear....examp. from reverse to drive position, sometimes a clunking noise also, when engaging in different directions like reverse directly into drive....vibration from under the car @ various speeds!

thats what i was thinking any idea on how long it takes a shop to get it done, and how much for the flex joints?
