| New member Hello guys, I'm new here. Just got my 1989 BMW 535i. I'll post pics soon  Quick question tho, do those motors use timing chain instead of timing belt? Thanks in advance.     |

| On the E34, The M30, M50 and M60 engines have a Cam Shaft Timing Chain. The 89-90 525i with an M20 uses a Cam Shaft Drive belt. You car has the M30. A good site for you to read up on your car is Http://www.bmwe34.net Enjoy the car.
