E34 535 1989 Servicing codes?

How to I bump up the service increments on the bwms computer. The computer shows the service indicator panel is in the red and as a result the computer is detuning the car. I have just serviced the car ie; plugs, leads, oil, oil filter, flushed radiator. Is there anything else that needs doing? The car has 180km of that makes any difference.

The ‘Break Linings’ warning has come up also. How do I go about resetting this? I have checked all four wheels and the pads are over ¾ remaining. The sensor were clogged, so two bottles of break cleaner and the breaks are looking good. The only problem is that the cars computer is still warning me about my breaks when they are fine. How do I stop this? Does the computer cause the cars break pedal to soften? If anyone has and helpful hints or ideas please HELP!!!

Are all of your brake lining sensors present? The brake lining light goes away by itself...its not controlled by a computer....so that light being on is just a dummy light....it won't effect driving at all.

The service indicators are resettable with a reset tool...they cost about $50-$100 and they are well worth it. BUT most shops with a reset tool will reset this light for free. The service indicator is also a dummy light. The computer doesn't 'detune' your car if those lights are on. You most likely have another issue causing bad performance. Those red/yellow/green lights are just to remind you to get your oil changed and do basic services.

PS-if your brake pedal feels soft, you may need a master cylinder. Everyone is going to call me nuts, because masters rarely break, but it IS a possibility.

There is a way to reset the service lights with a jumper wire. I am not sure what numbers you will need to short for what you want but have a look at this page.
