| To be honest you can blame the Dukes Of Hazard for me liking V8's I loved the sound as a kid. I then became a musician and the sounds took on a whole new meaning to me. If I'm honest I totally all over the place the internet is a great place but you get over loaded sometimes, one minute it's a bmw V8 the next a Supra engine, then an M5/M3 engine now I'm also toying with the idea of just turboing the 3.5 straight six ohc engine. What I'd love is if someone could lay it down the pros and cons of these engines what power can be had, what problems I'd face with the engine etc almost like an Ultimate Guide to the BMW Engine Variants power and problem potential cause their is always a flip side to everything you add one thing one thing will fail sooner than expected and what to do to stop this happening etc, also a price guide to doing each Modification so as to seperate the Dreamers From the Doers and people can set themselves realistic goals. I am now stepping down off my Indipendence day the movie soap box. My magic is spent for now. ![]() |

| Arthur, read my thread in the FI section about turboing a 7 series with that motor, many people were helpful when I was going to buy a 7 series, but found out there was much hidden with it. Anyhow, that motor can make some power, I would almost put my left nut on it. I am big into homemade turboing cars, with great sucsess. You could put a damn nice setup on that car for under 2500 bucks, which would have some damn good power. And it would sound kick ass if thats what you go for. IMHO nothing sounds better than a turbo. You know why god made turbo lag? So V8s could keep up. Matt

| Well since everyone just wants to beat you up for wanting the V8, I will answer the actual question. The E28s were all pretty much the same. I don't see why a V8 swap would make a difference which E28 model you have. I WOULD say get as new as possible, as the newer cars had power seats and such....if you don't care about power options, they are all equal. I drove an E28 533i for 5 years. It was my DD for 3, and a track rat for 2. As a DD, the car was great. LOADS OF FUN to drive. Not too many 'major' problems. Blew up the motor, and put together a 3.7L stroker and tracked the car. One point of interest for powerful motors in E28s.....reinforce the diff. mount. I ripped my diff right off the frame after 6 months of track use....had to weld it back....I would just weld it to begin with.

| Anthing to help. Sometimes you can get hammered on pretty bad for not jumping on the turbo bandwagon. I don't prefer BMW V8s, but they do have a certain 'stigma' about them. Let me know if I can answer anything else for you....I also have a lot of E28 parts including some custom made parts....so if you need something, I can ship it.
