| 2000 540I strange problem.. Today, my mother was driving the car. When she was about to park she backed up a lil then put it in to D to park the car. As soon as she puts tranny in to "D", she steped on a gas a lil (she 56), car just took off like she went WOT. She somehow managed to stop the car in time to avoid hit'n a car in front but she did hit a parked motocycle on her right.. So the mirror and pass door is messed up a lil.. I'm not worried about that though. I'm glad she is ok. However, I'm worried that the car may do that again when shes behind the wheel. My question is, has neone experienced that problem before? Sometime car just revs up high on starts up. I thought it was because of the floormat or something.. Please share your thoughts / experiences Thanks in aDv.

| Well, its easy to say that maybe they are not used to the throttle difference in between a slow start and actual throttle up when the hp kicks in. However, its the same deal when I know something's wrong with my car, take it to the mechanic and they cant find anything. So I will take there word for it something went goofy. I had to call to get a progress and they cannot find anything in the computer that showed anything was happening. Again, going back to the statement above. They will flush the fluid, new filter and reflash the computer and see how it goes as well as check to see if there is debris floating around. $200. If it fixes it, then I would suggest to you which was suggested to me... flush the tranny and reset the comp. Stay tuned, Monday is when it comes out.

| UPDATE: The Trans Flush seemed to have cured the problem with the lack of engagement in starting out. The problem is intermittent and was more common upon warmed up fluid. Now granted, its kind of cold here and I have been granny driving it just in case, but so far so good. You may want to consider doing the same. Its pretty cheap, under $300. I will keep updates as I go just for FYI. Good luck with your prob.
