| Replacing Passenger Seat Plastic Casing on 525i (E39) I have a 2001 525i (E39), and I need to replace the plastic panel that goes around the part of the front passenger seat facing the door. The panel itself is about 13 inches x 9 inches, and had become detached. This is the same panel that the knobs for adjusting the seat are on. I was told by a local (DC/MD/VA) dealer's parts dept. that it costs about $55.60 for the part. I was also told that they are fairly easy to do it yourself. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Basically, I am somewhat technically inclined with tools, but if it's something that will take a while (3-4 hours) I would be more open to dropping the cash and having a professional do it. It seems like it might be easy, but I also had a mechanic tell me it was a pain to do because of screw and/or nut location.
Please let me know the following, if you've had experience with this:
Material required (assume only replacement cover).
Tools (I have the basics for a harry homeowner).
Time (average hours).
Difficulty for non-mechanic (1-5 with 1 very easy and 5 being get some help)
