Where is a good place to order M5 body kits?
What are common performance upgrade for 540??

Is your 540 manual or automatic? If manual I strongly recommend a lightweight flywheel and clutch delay valve removal as two of your first modifications.

Can you be more specific with what your looking to do? I'm in the middle of a complete 540 to M5 conversion right now so I can make suggestions to point you in the right direction.

I'm mainly interested in M5 body kits (front bumper / rear) and few bolt on performance parts for 540I. Will an M5 bumper will bolt on to 540 with out major body work?

Mine has auto tranny.

Bolt on performance wise your best bet it to chip it and put in a CAI

The OEM M-Technic kit should fit on your 540 without any body work. You can either get it from BMW directly, or other major BMW vendors should stock it as well. Last time I checked it was about $1200 for the kit which included front and rear fascias.

I would second the previous posters recommendation for a chip (ECU software upgrade) and CAI, as well as upgraded auto transmission software.

I saw a few group buys that were recent on a lot of boards. I am sure if you googled e39 m5 bumper group buy, you might come up with some sites of some one' off purchases.

Just figure out where they're buying it at and pull the trigger. As I am a noob to this site, I dont want to put out any other board names without knowing if thats allowable/acceptable.
