i need help!!! e39 engine m52 or what?

i have bought a 1999 520ia
service told me that my engine is double vanos, so it is m54
is it possible to have m54 in 1999 model ?

i have searched on web, i found that m52tu engines are double vanos

i tried to find 8 digit engine code but i couldnt find it, where is it located?

According to Wikipedia, which is usually fairly accurate, M54s didn't become available until MY2000.

Also, according to Wiki, the M52 in 1999 got Double Vanos (intake and exhaust).

Also, apparently the M54 was only available as a 2.2L not a 2.0L. Wiki indicates that there was a transition from the 2.2L M52 to the 2.2L M54 sometime in 2001.

service put 0-30 full senthetic oil to my engine (considering it is a m54)
is 0-30 oil ok with my engine?

any one has any idea please tell, cuz i cant trust my service they couldnt even understand the exact engine code

If you're using a full synthetic, don't worry too much about the oil weights. The proper weight is listed in your manual. Might also be on the door jamb or in the engine bay. Search for "oil" in the 3 series boards and see what they use in the same engines.
