E23 Hood Shocks for the E28

I heard that you can make an E28's hood open up more just by getting a set of E23 7 series hood shocks. They're supposed to be a direct bolt-on upgrade. Remove the old ones and install the new ones. 5 minutes per side for even a beginner.They make a HUGE improvement when you're trying to get at something in the back of the engine bay.

1. Is this true?
2. I've heard that the E24 6 seriers are not the same. Actually, only one of the E24 hood shocks is supposed to be the same as these E23 shocks. On ebay, the are being sold as the same though??? So are they different or they the same?
