replacing side mirror

so my dad has a '97 540, with the heated mirrors. his driver's side mirror has been discolored practically since he got the car, which i'm told, just happens with these mirrors. well, i got him a new one for christmas, and i want to put it on for him. how do i do that?

i already have bought it. we have a Bavarian Autosports shop in town. i realize that i could have probably found it cheaper, but it was convenient. it was $70 btw, so you can bash me if you think that was too much.

Not at all - 70 dollars seems very reasonable.

To replace the outside mirror, insert a thin screwdriver or pry tool underneath the glass and pop it out. Detach any connectors such as for heated glass. There should be 3 or 4 plastic retainers holding the back of the mirror in place - pop these out. This should pretty much the entire process considering your are not replacing the internals which require removal of the trim panel attached to the car.
