| Seeking E34 answers While this may be fruitless I thought I may give it a try. I have been seeking the perfect car for a few years now and I may have found it in the E34, however I need some further information. I have a dream of entering Driver Search for the D1 challange here in the USA. Now it is my understanding that Nissan dominates the drifting market, however after viewing a clip from Top Gear on the E39, I decided to look into BMW abit more then usual. Now I understand the possibilitys are endless when it comes to cars, but I need to know a good site to review more information on this line. It could be that perhaps the E34 is not the best model for what I am looking for, but I think that the 5 line may have one. Does anyone know of tuning work being done on this series for such a race style? Or does anyone know where I can find out more information about after market parts? Any help would be benificial. Thank you. |

Engine: For the power you'll need a turbo. TCD makes a great turbo setup for the M20 and M30 engined cars. Or you could start with an M5. Tranmission: Generally very strong, but you'll want a good clutch. They're out there but you have to look. E28 clutches work in the E34. Brakes: Brembo still makes a GT brake setup. Totally worth the money. Suspension: This is where you'll have to go custom. Ground-control used to sell some E34 coil-over setups, but they don't list it on their website anymore. You'll have to call them. I have them on my 535. Most of the off the shelf parts are for street driving with the occasional track day. You'll need front and rear camber adjust. The really thick rear sway bars are very hard to fine. Steering: The M5 has a faster ratio than the regular 5 so you'll want to upgrade to that. Plus you'll need to adapt a smaller steering wheel to your car. Interio: You can save a lot of weight by ditching the interior. Definitely mount so racing buckets (again custom) I've owned my 535 for nearly 8 years. Its a great car, but I've spent a ton of money on it. Its seen just about every mod in the book. --Justin
