where can i find a chip for a 97 540i auto? Iv looked and havnt come up with anything, is that because they dont make one?

I believe you need to send your ECU in for programing. No actual chip available. Powerchip ™ is who I want to do my 97 540 6 speed.

dinan and powerchip are the only manuf'c that i know of. and yes, its not a "chip", the dme needs to be flashed with the new programming. i dont know about pwrchip but if you can find a dinan dealer in driving distance you can go there and they will do the programming for you. though afaik the software upgrades dont do very much for the 540, relative to how much they cost.
