| drop an s38 in it with the manual tranny. Ok, so maybe not, but im sure you can do a manual conversion for not too much money. What model is it? |

| haha i wish i could get a motor like that but my stock motor is nice pretty good power and running strong. its a 1995 525i. if i only do the tranny swap and replace the ecu for manual it might not be that much my worry is getting that clutch pedal cause its auto and i wouldnt know where to start |

| Just as an FYI, it is pretty in depth - transmission - transmission throw-out fork - cross member & rubber tranny mounts - flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disk, & throw-out bearing - pedal cluster assembly - driveshaft (different length & the front yoke is different, the rear diff flange is also different depending on what diff is used) - flex coupler, aka "quibo" - clutch master & slave cylinders & hydraulic tubing & reservoir - shift lever/shift linkage assembly - pilot bearing - manual transmission bell housing bolts (they are longer) - differential (wrong gearing for the manual ttrans) - interior console panel (shift boot opening is a different shape & location) - leather shift boot - catalytic converter support bracket - clutch lever cruise control cancel switch.(the engine will rev endlessly if using cruise and you push the clutch) - Performance chip to correct the wandering idle(Jim C is great) |

| Its not that hard. If you search some of the better trafficed E34 forums and do some search you can get a step by step description for the DIY individual. Eurodepot.com sells a complete parts package for $1200, with all new clutch components. With some luck I'm going to try it on a 525 touring later this year. The S38 is a great engine but extremely expensive. Best bet for power is to add FI to the M50.
