540iA vs SC 400

Hey everyone,

Been a while since I had a kill to post but finally got another.
Went to the store to get some hostess after watching reruns of buffy
The wifey was at home so, I went for a little cruise.

I'm just kind of chillin and thinking tomorrow is Friday yaaaaaa! I pull up to the stop light and notice this lexus sc400 in the left lane with poll position. While I'm behind some grandma. Don't get me wrong Gradmas are kewl and all that. I just dont like driving behind them especially after their bedtime

Anyway the light turns green and the sc400 takes off quickly and I knew he wanted to play. I maneuver around grandma and find myself behind him at the next light.

The light turns green and he takes off with a chirp and I'm sure that its on now. So I'm all over his a$$! I pull next to him at the next signal light.

I'm thinking, dayamm when is my Dinan 3.15 differential gona arrive? Answer: anouther week! Then I think my car does 5.8 0-60 right now. I think I can take him off the line.

I turn off DSC and I'm ready to nail it at the green. Did I mention my car is an automatic

The lite turns green and I slam the pedal down. I hear his tires cherp and look to the left and see him dropping back. I hit the 2nd gear shift point and I'm about a car length ahead. I shift from 2nd to third at about 6700 rpm and he is serveral cars back. Speed now about 90mph on a 35mph zone. I'm approaching traffic and give him my hazards for a few seconds. He pulls up next to me and gives me a thumbs up and I do the same. At the next lite I ask him what year is his car and he says 2000.

Now I have killed the GS400,430,I300 and SC400. All other kills were freeway kills.

Felt good to have a little fun! Risky place to be doing it though but, on a Thursday night the law is lite.

Does anyone know the stats on a 2000 lexus sc400. I think they're still good lookin. I almost bought one about 4 years ago.

It's amazing to go out for a snack and come across a little fun. Late last Monday I was driving up highway 52 and spotted a c4 style corvette. I pulled up next to him dropped into 3rd gear and tried to intice him. He drops down and gives me a little pull. So I pull back. Then he pulls behind me and stayed their.

My wife thinks he was affraid of my Dinan Exhaust lol Made me laugh! Cant wait for my differential!

Time to eat my hostess

Cyas!

Ohh Yeah

Um one question you said you almost bought a 2000 SC400 4 years ago, well just now being 2002 that would have to have been a 98 SC

If that car was a 2000, then it's probably not a SC400. On the other hand, if it were a SC400, then it's not a 2000 model.

Getting back to your question, a Lexus SC400 does 0-60 in about a tick over 6 sec. or so. Depending on the years, the time varied from around 6.1 sec to 6.9 sec (earlier models) or so.

Anywayz, good kill!

yes, good kill indeed! it's nice to read something that doesn't include a car that is "modified" to some rediculous hp

your 540iA sounds nice! i'm still one of those purist, 6 speeds in 540i types...but that's ok, to each his own.

btw...the orient blue is awesome! you got your car at just the right time too...no more orient blue for the 5's. (or anthracite, the two best selling colors for cryin out loud!!! grrr... )

how have your current mods affected the overall feel of your car? just curious...

nice car, nice kill!

After everyone was saying that the sc400 didn't exist
I took a look today on the internet and found them right off.
Below is a link to one of the the sites. Those cars have a
v8 290hp engine.

When I said I was lookin at buying one 4 years ago I didn't
mean the 2000 model sorry should of been more specific
It was a used model at the time I think about a 1995 and the
price was about 36k. Was to much for me back then.

Anyways nice lookin cars and they got some pwr to.

No prob joe I didn't know either until I checked to make
sure.

Hey NoSaab,
To answer your question about the feel of the car after
the subtle mods I have added. She feels just like the
first day I drove her but, she pulls a hell of a lot
harder and sounds great!

I probably wont add to many other mods. I want to put
the Dinan Stage I suspension on her. Not sure about the
engine. I may go, as far as, installing the Dinan high flow
air flow meter, throttle body and manifold I dont think
a Super charger is gona happen!

The Dinan 3.15 Differential should be installed late next
week I hope!!! Should pull even harder then, but will see.
I want her to look clean and pretty much stock. (sleeper)

cyas!

Brad your call hauls bro I like it!

I dont think you have to worry
about that

You get a lot of tire spin.
A limited slip differential would
help you a lot or, maybe wider tires or
super glue hehe...

You got a lot of horses
unda da hood. I can always use a few mo ponys
