| e39 540i Exhaust, EASY Mod
After looking into many options for opening up my 540i's baffled up exhaust I decdided i would like to use what i had and just let ir breathe a little bit more; the result was excellent! I had the mid muffler (the y shaped segment in between cats and reaer mufler) cut and replaced with a straight pipe and cut the rear resonator/baffle out and capped the pipe. The final cost was minimal $104 for the metal and 1 hr labor with the welder, yet the results far outweigh anything for the price, not to mention the sound is great!! Not loud, just alot deeper and richer tone when you start it, the idle is silent, but you get a nice raspy note when you get on it, how the engine should sound. Anyways, its an easy modification if you can weld and youll gain much better throttle response from eliminating some of that back pressure as well as gains especially in lower rpms, not to mention weight lost and much better tone. |
