E28 M535i Question

Does anyone know what it says on the intake of an E28 M535i....is it something like 3.3/3.5 ? I need to know cos my friend is after an E28 and doesn't know if its a genuine one, or one with the bodykit, interior etc.

I assume your talking about the intake manifold, if so thats what it says, its just a version of the m30. There really isnt much M badging at all, just on the front grille, the trunklid, and it has the M stripes on the seats and on the steering wheel, also the VIN starts WBA. Actually, if it is an M535 the VIN should read WBADC82XXXXXXXXXX.

the full story goes....My friend told me this car was an M5....the euro one obv(im in the UK) I said yr shitting me....he says no its going for $2500.

I said GO AND BUT IT b4 I do. Anyway, the price seemed tooooo cheap even if it was a wreck. Anyway, I investigated an M5, the spec etc etc.

I said does it say BMW M Power or have rondel then M Power etc. He said no it has 3.3/3.5 so I said its gotta be an M535i, and then he said it was auto....this lead me to thinking it was like a 520i or summing with a bodykit, but since I posed that message I have found out the M535i was available in Auto.

Yeah they do come in auto form, but the easiest way to find out if it is an m535 is to have him give you the vin. the important part is the second code, since its and automatic it should DC61, DC81 or DC82, those are the model codes for the m535 auto.

thanks again man, one more thing. Do you know the performance spec on the auto version. I cant find it anywhere. I can't really assume its near manual cos auto wasn't that good back in the late 80's.

well I dont have 0-60 times or quarter mile, all I can find is that it makes 218hp and 224ft/lbs. Hope that helps

I think its somewere between 8 and 9 seconds. Just like you said the auto tranmissions back then realy slowed cars down. In stick form it goes 0-60 in 7.4 post some pics!
