540i Gas Mileage?

What kind of gas mileage are you guys seeing with your E39 540s?

i select consume on my OBC and it told me 17.5,i reset it 2 days ago and now its on 12.3...

Is this normal? What causes bad gas mileage besides a heavy foot? What parts can i change to improve?

get a chip, mine has improved and its faster...

Whats consum rate does your OBC show?

I had a E34 95 540... it got 28 on the highway.... and like 14 around town.... well, thats when I had my foot in it.

I get about 350-400 Km (200-240 Miles) per fill up ($65 CDN ($45 US) ), and I enjoy every penny I use

isnt it an 18gal tank? i get around 300 per tank

It is 18 gallons with about 3 gallons reserve - NEVER go that low.

I get about 18.5 MPG city and 28 highway when I am being good. On average, I get 330 to 357 miles per tankful. Straight highway I get about 29 mpg

Thats good...

I get about 60miles on 4 gallons of gas

Thats pretty bad,i think i need a tuneup?

yes...that is around 15mpg

also check your tires, filters, etc as well
