| Best Exhaust Upgrades for the price? Hello, I have a E34 525i and am thinking of upgrading my stock exhaust system. Aside from the small performance improvement, I'm more concerned with the sound level and tone. I prefer low/deep tone on idle and non-raspy high-end sound. And certainly don't want it loud - like a B&B Triflo.
Now I've been looking for a while and stumbled upon europeancarweb.com 's article on the E36's exhaust upgrade - with sound clips, and visited eisenhaus.com and checked their sound/video clips, etc, etc.
So far, I've come to a conclusion that Remus makes the cheaper mufflers and Eisenmann makes the higher-end mufflers. Supersprint is somewhat in between but the sound is quieter than I'd prefer. Then there's Magna-flow?
Is there something out there that sounds like Eisenmann with that tone at the price of a Supersprint? My local mechanic was working on a E36 with a Magnaflow muffler and the tone was awesome but it was a bit too loud.
Also does anyone have upgraded headers? And what do people do with the resonator - for E34s - section of the exhaust? Replace with a Supersprint or have a custom made straight pipe? Does this make it loud?
I'm still doing my research so any first-hand input from fellow members and a sound clip sample would be great! Many thanks!
Steve
