Cone filter on E34 525

I want to put a cone filter on my E34. Has anyone made on up? I want something like the Dina cai or ECIS.

What needs to be done to make it work? Is there anything else for the E34?

BMP SUCKS! They screw up EVERY order I ever made with them. They also just sell the cone. I want a heat shild like the ECIS one.

I was thinking of just getting a ECIS one a make it fit my car.

ecis intake originally made for an e36 on an e34.

heat shield doesn't fit perfect, but does the job. after driving, if i touch the filter, it's cool to touch.

had to modify the bracket which holds the pipe and filter in place to make it fit right.

the intake is awesome. throtle response is better and also it sounds so good!

Great! Thanks! Do you think you gained some HP form this? Also what did you do about the alt cooler duct? Do you have any close up pics? Did you have to cut the heat shield at all?

i dont know what the hp increase is from it, but throttle response does feel a whole lot better.

i removed all that plastic garbage that went behind the headlight.

i did not have to cut the heatshield.

only thing i had to mod was the L shaped bracket that came with it. i flattened this piece and used something nearby to bolt it down.

i'll look to see if i have any other pics.

Oh, so it was a straight foward install. I was going to remove the head light plastic cover. I was worried about the alternator heating up with out it's cooling hose. it's nice to know it all fit ok. Even the bracket. I can bend and cut a bit. Now I don't have to!

To bad you don't think it really gave you any HP. I bet it did a little. throttle responce would be nice! I drove my M3 around today then got in the 5, it sucked! I love the car but it is everything the M3 isn't. Well as far as speed goes.

i'm sure it added a few hp. it seems like it did a whole lot more than my supersprint exhaust.

i forgot to tell you, i ran dryer hose then connected this to the original black duct that runs to the alternator.

the 5er is still slow, but every lil bit helps i guess.

Has anyone heard of PRM? Go to prmracing.com, I was thinking about a cold air intake and this might help us all out with a horse or two. I just don't know if I trust them cause they seem to deal a lot with the rice portion of auto's. But, if everything checks out I might get it. What do you all think?

It doesn't look so high quality. It also looks like a small filter. The 525 already has a cold air intake. I'd rather spend the $189 on the ECIS one.

The whole reason for a cone filter is more serface area for more HP, if you use a smaller filter what is the use?
