Newbie: Looking for a 540i

Hey everyone,

New to the forum. In the DFW area

I want to buy an 01-02 540i and I am wondering what to look for as far as problems/potential problem areas, what kind of price to anticipate and if I should be worried about a high mileage vehicle.

I am currently looking at an 01 540i w/77k on it for around $23k. It is from a local high-end car lot (not a bmw dealership). I am ready to buy but am worried about the mileage and possible hidden problems. I bought my 300zx twin turbo without having it inspected or any research and ended up with a huge hole in my pocket less than 6 months later . Needless to say, I dont want to do that again!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi I'm new to this bimmer forum, I'll be interested in the 3 series and Z3 forums, as an owner of both. The introduction and validation process is nothing new but is a good system for all involved.

bmws are exspensive to maintain, and fix up.. but after that process, it is smooth sailings...

As a ml owner as well, you get use to these things, if you can't maintain it and look after it, you should not have bought it, there is far more more good points than bad. Thanks for the advice though.
