Anyone remember the movie "The Super"? After seeing those pics, it reminded me of the part in the movie where Danny Divito comes out to see his vette stripped down bare. He goes over and hits it, and the car alarm goes off.

I love that movie! My favorite quote is when he asks the girl to have sex with him, and shes like "what, you want me to close my eyes and try not to throw up?"

Now, don't get me wrong. It sucks big time that the wheels and taillights were stolen. But if you have an M5 and lived in the city, would you leave your car parked in the same spot for a long period of time? Heck, I wouldn't leave my car parked ANYWHERE in the street for more than an hour or two.

NYC isn't THAT bad. And it's always out-of-towners or B&T people complaining about how awful and dangerous it is.
Just for the record I took those photos & sent them to "M-Velope".
The owner of the M5 did not live in the City, from what I recall he lived in Long Island. You are correct, the thieves did take their sweet time with stealing everything, because the people who called the police dialed 311 instead of 911 (311 is used for non emergency calls to the police such as quality of life issues. ie:noise.) The witness's said they saw the thieves working on the car for a while. Anyways, if the poeple would have dialed 911 they would have been in custody.
BTW, an M5 parked on the street is not a big deal. I see Maserati's, Aston Martin, & Porsche's parked on the street all the time.
The city has been getting hit bad by car thieves lately, HID/Xenon lights are big. Instead of people stealing the cars, they're stripping the lights & taking off. Audis have been getting hit the worst, they are so common & makes them easy targets.

Dado might disagree with you there. I was looking for his car as soon as I heard it was stolen.

In L.A. you have an alarm like that and people will fuck with your car on principle. Simply BECAUSE it has that awful alarm. People dont give 3 flying shits about when a car alarm goes off. They just want ti to stop. They look at your car with utter contempt when it goes off often. Even if they do see someone stealing a car, you think theyll do anything? People have trouble calling the police when they see women getting raped or abducted. SUcks but true. The Kitty Genovese thing. Was it Genovese? I cant remember its been a while since Psych class.

At first I blamed those people, but now that I think about it, it's the damn PD's fault. When they hear auto theft in progress they should reroute it to the emergency number. Still though, those people are stupid. I would have gone down and wrecked shit with a 45 acp.

This is why LA sucks and the southeast rocks. I'm a DC native, but now I'm in school in NC. When a car alarm goes off people look make sure nothing is going down. If it is, you can be damn sure somebody has a sidearm and will take care of it. People also stop to let you cross the street even if you aren't at a crosswalk...they also say Hi to you and always carry a smile. Granted I've seen parts around here where people like me who have olive colored skin don't exactly get that treatment, but where I am right here I do. It's kinda funny actually, some of the racist guys are at first racist, then I speak a little farsi and they get scared hehehe. Probably think I'm going to bomb them or something.

that was probably an insurance job. theives dont take rims.they take the whole car. and the whole car would no longer exist (chopped and parted) that dick who owns that car had a hot set of rims on it and took them off to probably make a few extra bucks so he would be able to take the subway for about 2 months.

IMO that was more than likely an insurance job.

He would have had the good sense to leave his car on bricks if it were.

Hmmm, now were going to bash peoples hometowns and talk about how rednecks with far too much time on their hands would pull out "thayre sahd ahrms" haha. L.A. has so many infinitely better things than most cities in this country that its not even worth getting into at present and I respect all people here from all over the place. L.A. definitely does not suck. Its got some extremely intolerable aspects, like all towns. But whatever, this is far off-topic and its not worth it. Since I have never been to your part of the states, Ill reserve judgement and refrain from talking about places I dont know about. I can see the good and the bad of places Ive been.
